bollestechguy - Video Xanga
The Bolles School chapter of our teenangels.org group created a video terasing us about our requirement that they submit a proposal for our wired kids summit presentations. In mock 20/20 format, these teens talk about the earth-shattering requirement of the "proposal!" :-) I think they have too much time on their hands. I need to give them more assignments. lol. I had spoken to the founders of this site two years ago. I was concerned then that people who don't understand the legal implications of dealing with kids online were entering the space. I know they mean well and have a good idea for building kids sites, but when you play in the kids space online, there has to be more than good intentions.
The FTC has once again shown the power of COPPA sanctions.

Many teens commit suicide in a small town in South Wales, England. There are people pointing fingers at Bebo, a popular social network. But in our experience, Bebo is one of the good social networks, caring about their users and listening. Given by teens and preteens for adults in the industry, media and government, this is one of the hottest invites each year. On February 6th in DC, the Teenangels and Tweenangels (you saw them in the Frontline special) will teach adult what they need to know about kids online and safety.
Seats are very limited, but I am still considering requests.

The article should have said that I estimate that 20% teens have met people from the Internet offline that they didn't know in real life. I think this is a good first step and I congratuate the 49 AGs for staying on this issue. I also want people to know that MySpace really does care and work on this issue. It's just one that can't be totally solve, not yet.
